Earthbound Coming to WiiU Virtual Console in US & EU

earthboundNintendo have confirmed that cult classic, Earthbound, will be released on the WiiU Virtual Console by the end of the year.

Earthbound  is about a young boy called Ness who has strong phychic powers. After a meteorite lands near his house, Ness is contacted by an alien called Buzz buzz who tasks Ness with gathering together other psychics known as the chosen four in order to save the earth from Giygas, an alien from a distant galaxy with the power to influence people using their own evil nature

Talking during a Nintendo direct broadcast yesterday, Nintendo President Satoru Iwata, who worked on the game while he was a devloper at HAL Laboratory confirmed the joyous news and explained that the decision to rerelase the game in the west was due in part to fans hijackacking the game’s Miiverse pages after it was released in Japan and requesting it be also released in the US and EU as well.

This will also be the first time the game has been officially released in Europe, as the original SNES version never managed to make it across the pond.

The Miiverse might just become the most important tool for fans to communicate with Nintendo. I don't think this would have ever happened without it.

Agreed. It also shows that nintendo listen to their fans. There were some problems with licensing rights to some of the music as well but they must have sorted them. great for gamers i the UK though, it's never been released over here. although thanks to emulation i know plenty of peole that have played it.
